Description

Stoney Bank Cottage and Barn is a house and adjoining barn dating from the 17th century or early 18th century, with a slightly later addition on the left. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and features quoins and a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and two ashlar stacks with plinth and string.

The gabled wing to the left has an entrance in a small gabled stone porch with a finial. To the left of the doorway is a cross-window, and above it, there is a 6-light mullioned and transomed double chamfered window on the first floor. A plaque is located in the gable apex. To the right, there is an 8-light mullioned and transomed double chamfered window on the ground floor and a 3-light double chamfered window on the first floor. The slightly later addition on the extreme left has a stone porch and an external stack with offsets, which shows signs of some rebuilding. The rear elevation has been altered, with the left gable featuring a 2-light double chamfered window with a hood mould on both floors.

Adjoining to the left is the former barn, which is of similar date and has a later outshut to the rear. The barn includes chamfered ventilation slits with false arches on both gables, one former large entrance that is part blocked, and one modern garage door. The barn is included for its group value.
