Description
Oaks Farmhouse is a house dated 1701, constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and a single-cell outshut at the rear, following a three-room plan. The building features quoins and a former four-light double chamfered mullioned window that has been altered to create a doorway. This doorway has composite jambs with a stop chamfered surround, which extends upwards to form a decorated lintel with a double lobed head, mirrored by double arches on the soffit. The spandrels and the center of the lintel are engraved with the initials "R H" and "T H" along with the date "1701".
The farmhouse includes a six-light double chamfered mullioned window, although it is missing three mullions. Above this window, there is a small two-light window positioned just below the eaves. The third cell features a two-light flat faced mullioned window with a slightly projecting sill on each floor. The left-hand return wall has a six-light chamfered mullioned window with a four-light window above it. The right-hand return wall contains a single sash window with a similar window above and a blocked arch-headed light with sunken spandrels. At the rear, there are former two-light chamfered windows on either side of the outshut. The north gable has kneelers but lacks copings, while the south gable has a stack, with another stack located to the left of the door entry.
