Description
Potball is a house dated 1684, constructed from large hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. It stands two storeys tall. The south front features four vertical divisions. The first division has a six-light chamfered mullioned window, with a break in the stonework between the first and second divisions. The second, third, and fourth divisions each contain double chamfered mullioned windows with a continuous hoodmould. The first floor has chamfered mullioned windows, although some lack some or all of their mullions. There is a four-light window with a two-light window above it on the first floor, along with a 19th-century doorway with monolithic jambs that has been taken from a former five-light window, and a three-light window above it on the first floor. The left-hand return wall has a single-storey lean-to that was rebuilt in 1984, with a three-light double chamfered mullioned window above on the first floor. The rear of the building has two doorways; one features a straight lintel and chamfered surround, while the other is blocked and has a shaped lintel that bears a date set within a tressure, similar in design to that found at Oakes, Erringden, which is less than half a mile away. The gables have kneelers but lack coping, and there are two truncated stacks at the ridge. The interior has not been inspected.
