Description
Higham is a house originally known as Rougham, dating from the mid-17th century with early 18th-century alterations. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and consists of two cells.
The south front includes a window with a chamfered sill and a 4-light chamfered mullioned window above, which is missing two mullions. There is a doorway with a chamfered surround and a noticeable break in the stonework. On either side of an inserted 2-light flat-faced mullioned window, which now forms a long window with four broad lights, are two 2-light double chamfered mullioned windows, also lacking some mullions. Above this, there is another 4-light chamfered mullioned window. The gables are coped with kneelers, and there is a central stack on the ridge.
The north front features a chamfered doorway and a chamfered mullioned window (also missing two mullions), with a 2-light window above that has a plain stone surround.
