Description

This is a 17th-century farmhouse with an attached barn, initially built as a single-cell house and dated 1670. An early 19th-century barn was added to the left side. The house is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. It is two storeys high. The original doorway features chamfered jambs and an inscribed lintel, designed as a baffle entry. A long, later lean-to porch with a cat-slide roof has been added. The front windows have been altered, originally forming two bays of windows now incorporating two chamfered lights. The first floor has a long, twelve-light chamfered mullioned window with a central king mullion. There are also some two-light mullioned windows to the rear. The attached barn has a segmental arched cart entry and a mistal doorway with tie-stones, along with quoins. The barn has a coped gable. A stack is located at the junction of the house and barn. Inside the house, the roof structure includes a queen-strut truss braced to the ridge and grooved to the soffit.
