Description
This building is a cottage located to the northwest of Lane Top Farmhouse, dating from the early 18th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone with a watershot finish and features a stone slate roof. The cottage is two storeys high and has quoins. The south front displays a symmetrical arrangement with two bays of chamfered mullioned windows, each with four lights, and a three-light window above (most of the mullions have been removed). The left-hand return wall includes a two-light window on the first floor, while the right-hand return wall also has a two-light window (with the mullion removed) and features a gable entry with tie stones. The ridge of the roof lacks a stack, although it previously had one at the center, as indicated by flat-arched fireplace reveals that have a projecting shelf. The building is currently used for agricultural purposes.
