Description

Great House Clough is an early 18th-century house connected to a separate 18th-century cottage. A mid-20th century infill section now serves as the main entry, linking the two structures. The main house features quoins and double-chamfered mullioned windows; these have six lights on the ground floor and two of four lights on the first floor. The gables are coped with kneelers and stacks. The northernmost room contains a basket-arched fireplace with a stone shelf and moulded surround. Gable entries are similarly detailed with arched lintels. The attached cottage has quoins and chamfered mullioned windows of two lights, and a gable stack. It is suggested the property may have been associated with textile manufacture.
