Description
This is a row of cottages located at 39-45 Blind Lane, built in the early 19th century. The cottages are constructed with watershot masonry and feature ashlar dressings on the front and rear, while the gables are made of handmade brick. They have a stone slate roof and are two storeys high, arranged in a double pile under a single span roof. The row consists of four bays, with quoins at the corners and between the first and second, and the second and third bays.
The first bay includes a doorway with a sill tie and a flat-faced mullioned window with two lights, which has a similar window above it. The other three bays each have a doorway with a sill tie and a three-light flat-faced mullioned window on each floor. Stone brackets are present on cottages 43 and 45. There is one ridge stack and two offset stacks, one made of stone and the other of brick. The rear of the cottages, which is partly rendered, retains a similar window pattern. Cottages 43 and 45 were built first, followed by 41, and finally 39, all constructed within a short time frame.
