Description
New House Farmhouse is a late 18th-century laithehouse, dated "TG/1811". It is constructed of thinly-coursed, squared stone and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys, with an L-shaped layout that includes a two-bay barn, part of which has been incorporated into the house. The openings have plain stone surrounds, and the windows feature flat-faced mullions.
On the left side of the house, there is a door set within a gabled porch added around 1980, with a three-light window to the left and a two-light window to the right. The first floor has a cill band, a three-light window, and a date plaque on the right. The building has plain gutter brackets on the table.
The barn section includes a round-arched cart entry on the left, which has tiestones, imposts, a dropped keystone, and a Venetian window with a tripartite keystone above. There is also a mistal doorway on the left with a 20th-century three-light window above it. The gables feature shaped kneelers and ashlar coping. There is a stack on the left gable and another at the left end of the rear roof pitch. The right return of the barn has three arched vents in the gable.
