Description

Rose Cottage is a house located in Midgley, likely built in the mid to late 18th century. It is constructed of coursed squared stone and features a stone slate roof. The building has two storeys and two bays, with three windows on the first floor. The corners of the house are marked by quoins.

The door on the left includes tiestones and is accompanied by a glazed porch added around 1980. To the right of the door, there are chamfered mullion windows, although most of the mullions have been removed. These windows consist of three lights on each floor, with additional windows to the right featuring two and three lights above. The house has shaped kneelers and ashlar coping, along with a central ridge stack and a corniced stack at the right end. A pent-roofed outshut is set back on the right side.

On the left side, there is a two-light ground-floor window similar to the others, and inserted windows on the first floor, including one that is a two-light flat-faced mullioned window. The house is included in the register for its group value.
