Description

Eastburn House is a house dating from the mid-18th century, located in Steeton-with-Eastburn. It is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high and has a three-bay facade, designed as a double-depth layout. It features quoins. The central doorway has monolithic jambs, a rectangular fanlight, and a triangular pediment. The two bays to the left and right of the doorway contain recessed flat-faced mullioned windows: the left bay has four lights, while the right has five, both with an inner chamfer. Coped gables are present, with stacks set below the ridge at both the front and rear. The rear elevation has a four-light flat-faced mullioned sashed window at ground floor, with a four-light chamfered mullioned window above it. A semi-circular arched stair window incorporates impost blocks and a keystone, with Gothic glazing.

Inside, a dog-leg staircase has turned balusters and a ramped handrail. A panelled window seat with raised-and-fielded panels is situated on the landing. Two front rooms have shutters and panelled window seats. An elaborate marble fireplace has been inserted.
