Description
This outbuilding, located 10 meters to the southwest corner of Calf Hey Farmhouse, dates back to the early 17th century and is constructed of rubble brought to course with quoins and a stone slate roof. The east elevation features a doorway with composite jambs and a wooden door frame topped by a depressed Tudor arched lintel, along with two windows, each having wooden lintels. The left-hand return wall is rendered and includes a stack with an internal flue. The rear of the building has two double chamfered mullioned windows, each with two lights.
Inside, the structure has two cells on either side of a king-post truss that is braced to the ridge. There is also a segmental arched fireplace. This building is noted for its unusual and interesting characteristics.
