Description
Stone Stile is a house dating from the mid 18th century. It is constructed of thin coursed hammer dressed stone and has a rendered south front, topped with a stone slate roof. The building is two storeys high and features quoins and coped gables with kneelers.
The south front consists of two cells. On the ground floor, there is a flat faced mullioned window with four lights and another with five lights, although this second window is missing two mullions. The first floor has two chamfered mullioned windows, each with five lights, both also lacking two mullions.
The right-hand return wall includes a cell at the rear with a doorway that has monolithic jambs, along with a two-light flat faced mullioned window and a two-light chamfered mullioned window above it on the first floor. The rear of this section features a gable stack, while there are two additional stacks on the ridge of the front range.
