Description
The Cottage is a house dating from the early 18th century, located in Mankinholes, Todmorden. It is constructed of large dressed stone and consists of a two-cell layout, with an additional cell added in the 19th century featuring watershot masonry. The building has a stone slate roof and stands two storeys high. The north front displays a prominent 6-light chamfered mullioned window with a king mullion, above which is a 19th-century 3-light flat faced mullioned window. The added cell features a 5-light flat faced mullioned window on each floor. The gables of the house retain their kneelers but do not have copings. A central stack is present on the roof. The south-facing rear has a doorway with a chamfered surround and chamfered mullioned windows with three lights on each floor. There is also another doorway with a heavy lintel and large tie-stones, which is currently blocked, situated next to a square window.
