Description
This is a house, dated and initialled ‘H S 1690’. It is constructed of large dressed stone, with some coursed rubble, and has a stone slate roof. The house originally had a 3-room plan, though the service end has been rebuilt, with an attached barn (now a garage).
The south front has double-chamfered mullioned windows on the ground floor. The first floor windows are also chamfered mullioned. The ground floor includes a 2-light firewindow, lacking its mullion, with a small chamfered light above a 5-light housebody window, which lacks two mullions. Above this is a 4-light window, also lacking two mullions. A 4-light window is found in the parlour, with a matching window above, both lacking two mullions. The northern end has a coped gable with a kneeler and stack, and there is another stack elsewhere on the building. To the left of the firewindow, altered stonework incorporates a 5-light window on the first floor. A wide doorway with a heavy lintel and chamfered surround leads to the barn.
The rear elevation has a 7-light chamfered window on the ground floor. The first floor is blind, except for a small light over the doorway, which has a dated lintel and a deeply stop-chamfered surround. This light is now protected by a gabled porch with coping, a stone gutter, and a Tudor arched doorway with roll moulding.
Inside the housebody, there is a bressumer and a large, corbelled fireplace with a stone shelf and a cyma moulded surround of 18th century character.
