Description

Wood Royd Farmhouse, cottage, and attached barn date partly from the mid 18th century and were rebuilt in the early 19th century. They now form three dwellings and are constructed of watershot masonry with a stone slate roof. The farmhouse is two storeys high, with the south front featuring three bays of flat-faced mullioned windows: four lights on the ground floor and six lights on the first floor. There are doorways with monolithic jambs on either side of the central bay, and gutter brackets are present.

Attached to the right end is a single-cell cottage with a lower roof line, which has a four-light window and two sets of two-light windows above on the first floor, along with a doorway that also has monolithic jambs. The building features quoins. The rear side has three bays of chamfered mullioned windows, which are likely reused. The first bay includes a former five-light window with a six-light window above (missing most mullions) and a doorway with monolithic jambs; the second bay has a six-light window with a seven-light window above and a doorway with tie-stone jambs; the third bay features a six-light window with the same above on the first floor. The building has three stacks along the ridge.

To the left end, there is a single-storey rear section of the cottage that includes two-light flat-faced mullioned windows. The right-hand return wall has a former cart entry with a straight lintel and composite jambs, which is now blocked. This attached structure consists of a cottage to the south and a barn to the north, along with a single-storey aisle.
