Description

A laithe-house dating from the mid-18th century, with a later 18th-century cottage added to its west end. The building is constructed of hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. Quoins mark the division between the barn and the cottage. The cottage features S-light chamfered mullioned windows on each floor, some mullions being missing. A mistal doorway with chamfered surround is situated either side of a segmental arched cart entry. The farmhouse section has two cells, each with a single chamfered mullioned window with recessed mullions; one window has four lights, the other five, with some mullions also missing. The gabled end has copings, kneelers, and two stacks, one on the gable and one on the ridge. A two-storey lean-to adjoins the left-hand return wall, featuring a doorway and three square lights to the first floor. The rear elevation incorporates a small, single-storey gabled outshut at a right angle, acting as a cellar and partly sunken into the ground. The right-hand return wall includes a doorway that serves as a gable entry to the right of the stack.
