Description

No 15, Town Gate is a 17th century, two-storey stone cottage with a stone roof. The building has been altered and features two simple mullioned windows with five lights on the first floor. Below, there are partly moulded mullions and a lintel above a blocked doorway, which has the date 1677 and the initials H/OA. This cottage is of particular interest as it was the home of the 17th century divine Oliver Heywood.
