Description
Field Head Barn belonging to Owlers is a 19th-century aisled barn with a date inscribed as 1768, although the first and last numerals are much weathered. The barn is constructed from rockfaced stone and features a stone slate roof with quoins. The cart entry has a straight lintel with a datestone above and a chamfered surround, which is protected by a porch under a cat-slide roof. To the right, there is a mistal doorway at a lower level that has a quoined lintel and a chamfered surround. Inside, the barn has a king-block roof with short angle struts supported on posts that rest on tall stylobats. One roughly dressed straight brace remains attached to the arcade plate. The 19th-century addition includes a softwood queen-post truss.
