Description
This gateway with gates is located approximately 20 meters east of the east end of Christ Church and is likely from around 1819, coinciding with the church's construction. It is made of ashlar stone and features cast and wrought-iron gates. The rusticated piers have chamfered bases and a string course below the top stage, which includes an oval panel. The southern pier retains a dentilled cornice and a ball finial on a stepped base. The gate consists of two leafs, with the top rails sweeping down to the center. It has wave-finished bars, mid rails decorated with quatrefoils, and hinge bars that are set in iron sockets embedded in a stone cill. This structure is included for its group value.
