Description

The milestone opposite Ingwood Mill in West Vale is a triangular-shaped single stone from the mid-19th century. It has two faces: the left side reads 'TO STAINLAND 1 MILE', while the right side reads 'TO HALIFAX 3 MILES'. This milestone was formerly part of the turnpike road for the Salterhebble, Stainland, and Sowerby Bridge Trust.
