Description

A row of four cottages, dating from around 1820, is located on Church Street in Heptonstall. The cottages are constructed from well-coursed, hammer-dressed stone with a stone slate roof. Each cottage is two storeys high and contains a single room per floor. Each has a doorway featuring tie-stone jambs to the left of a three-light, flat-faced mullioned window with a projecting sill. A four-light window is positioned above the doorway on the first floor. One side of the building has a coped gable with kneelers. Four stacks rise from the ridge of the roof. Attached to the right-hand return wall, and built continuously with the front wall, are four privies with a lean-to roof.
