Description

Causeway East Farmhouse is a house dating from 1690, with substantial rebuilding that occurred in the early 19th century. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a slate roof. The building has a three-room front with an added outshut to the rear and stands two storeys tall.

The first cell retains late 17th-century stonework on the ground floor, which includes a double chamfered mullion window with four lights, although two of the mullions have been removed. There are paired doorways that feature tie-stones. The second cell has a five-light flat-faced mullioned stepped window, with a larger central light, while the third cell contains a three-light stepped window above a similar design.

On the first floor, above the first and second cells, there is a long 16-light window that is stepped at the third and fourteenth lights and solid at the eighth and ninth lights. All windows have projecting sills and altered glazing. The gables, which are of 17th-century construction, are coped and feature kneelers. They also preserve three chamfered windows, one with two lights and another with three.
