Description
Greenhill Cragg is a house built in 1669, featuring hammer-dressed stone and dressed quoins, topped with a stone slate roof. It has two storeys and a three-cell, baffle-entry plan. The exterior includes double-chamfered mullioned windows, with the first cell having two-light windows on each floor. The second cell, which serves as the main living area, has a five-light window on the ground floor and a four-light window above, along with a doorway that has a chamfered surround and a dated lintel, although this is partly obscured by a mid-20th century gabled porch and an inserted window above. The third cell features four-light windows on both floors. The gables are coped with kneelers, and the right gable has a stack, with another stack on the ridge. The right-hand return wall has a former two-light window that has been converted into a doorway, with a four-light window above it. At the apex is a double cross of the Knights Templars.
Inside, the main living area has stop-chamfered spine beams supported by an original bressumer, which is held up by a stone heck-screen.
