Description
Number 16 and the adjoining barn fronting the road were formerly part of a farmstead known as Holme Bank Farm. The barn, which dates from the 17th century, is situated between the road and the house, which was rebuilt around 1840 and has its main front facing south. The house is two storeys high, constructed of sandstone "brick" with a three-window front and a corniced doorway. It has a stone slate roof. The older rear section of the house now functions as a wing and features flush quoins. The barn, which is dated 1687, is built of coursed sandstone and also has a stone slate roof, with a flat-roofed midstrey. Inside the barn, the roof is supported by three king post trusses, each with straight braces.
