Description
Number 5 and the barn off Lower Holme Lane is an 18th-century barn that has been partially converted into dwellings at a later date in the 19th century. The structure is built of coursed rubble with quoins and features a pitched stone slate roof. On the west side, there is a moulded footstone. The north elevation has been altered and includes a large entrance with quoins and an oak lintel, which is partly blocked by a later small entrance. There is also a small doorway with quoins that is partly blocked. To the left, a cottage has been formed, with a doorway that partially obstructs a 2-light double chamfered and recessed stone mullioned window. At a higher level, there is a 2-light stone mullioned window and a small square vent with a millstone grit surround, which is blocked. The south elevation features an extension with a catslide roof to the west. The cottage on the east side has a 4-light stone mullioned window (double chamfered and recessed) on the ground floor, and at the first floor level, there is one 4-light stone mullioned window that is blocked.
