Description

Numbers 18 and 20, along with an adjoining barn, were originally part of Holme Bank Farm. The barn and house range dates from the late 17th or early 18th century, with Number 18 being a cottage added around 1800. The barn is constructed of dry stone walls with flush quoins and has a stone slate roof, featuring a King post roof truss structure. Number 18, at the north end, is a two-story sandstone "brick" building with a stone slate roof, featuring single and three-light square mullion windows in squared surrounds, and a squared jamb doorway. Number 20, the older property, is built of coursed gritstone with a stone slate roof, displaying a four-light chamfered mullion window on the first floor. A late 18th century three-light square mullion window is on the ground floor, with a blocked window to the left. The east gable end has a broad three-window elevation refaced in sandstone "brick," likely dating from around 1840-50, incorporating two-light square mullion windows in the gable, with sash windows elsewhere. It features a pilastered doorway.
