Description

The Pinfold with pump, trough, and smithy is a 19th-century structure located on the north-west side of Tong Lane. The stone monolith pump, dated 1849, features a conical cap and is accompanied by shaped stone troughs and a horse pond. This is backed by a stone rubble wall that extends north to form a roughly semi-circular pound, which returns to meet the gable end of a single-storey sandstone "brick" smithy from the mid-19th century. The smithy has a three-light square mullion window on each side and a stone slate roof.
