Description
The Coach House and Stables of the Old Dolphin Public House, occupied by R J Patchett Limited, dates from around 1790 and was built for the Old Dolphin coaching inn on the old Bradford-Halifax road. This two-storey rectangular building is constructed from thin, evenly coursed sandstone "brick." It features a symmetrical front with a slight break in the center, which has a plain pediment containing a lunette. The stone slate roof has bracketed eaves. There are two and three-light square mullion windows with squared surrounds, along with doorways and hatches that have squared jambs in the flanking bays. The central break includes large coach house doors set in a semi-circular ashlar voussoir archway with impost bands. This coach house is a well-preserved example of its type and is unique in the Bradford area, having been able to accommodate up to 20 horses when it was in use for coaching.
