Description
The Old Dolphin Public House is a mid-18th century rebuilding of an established inn located on the Bradford-Halifax coach road. It was enlarged in 1790, likely when the coach house and stables were added to accommodate the increased traffic during the peak of stagecoach travel. The building features a two-storey, three-bay front, with the left two bays being the original structure made of irregularly coursed sandstone "bricks" and quoins. The right bay, dating from around 1790, has similar thin "bricks" to the coach house. The roof is re-slated with bracketed eaves. The front includes two-light square mullion windows set in squared surrounds, and there is a modern stone porch. The building has corniced chimneys and two and three-light square mullion windows at the rear.
