Description

The former Kings Head Public House, along with an adjoining coach house and stable on the right, dates from around 1800 to 1830. It was a coaching inn located on the Halifax-Bradford turnpike and is a more substantial building than most of its kind in the area. The structure is two storeys high and built of sandstone, featuring painted sill bands on both floors. Each floor has three square mullioned lights set in shallow bows, with a moulded eaves cornice and blocking course that project forward over these windows. The roof is steeply pitched and covered with stone slates, with coped gable ends topped by corniced chimneys. To the right of the front, there is a lower two-storey former coach house and stable. The rear elevation has square mullioned windows on three storeys, as the ground falls away from the road.
