Buttershaw BD6 HALIFAX ROAD No 69, The former Kings Head Public House and coach house/stable adjoining to right

(Formerly listed as The Kings Head Public House and Coach House/stable adjoining to right, HALIFAX ROAD)

II Circa 1800-30, a former coaching inn on the Halifax-Bradford turnpike. More substantial building than most of its kind in the area. Two-storeys sandstone "brick" with painted sill bands to both floors carried over full height shallow bows of three square mullioned lights to each floor. The moulded eaves cornice and blocking course are also broken forward over them. Steeply pitched stone slate roof with coped gable ends surmounted by corniced chimneys. Lower two-storey former coach house-stable adjoins to right hand of front. Square mullioned windows on three-storeys to rear elevation (ground falls away from road).
