Description
The Church of St Paul is a simple lancet Gothic church built in 1838, designed by architect Walker Rawstons. It features shallow transepts but no aisles, and has a west tower topped with an octagonal spire. The church is constructed from sandstone "brick" with ashlar dressings. Notable architectural elements include tall lancet windows, with a stepped triple group at the transepts, and clasping buttresses on the tower, which has an ogee arched doorway at its base. The interior is plain and includes a gallery. The church was funded by John Hardy, who was associated with the Low Moor Iron Company.
