Description
The White Swan Public House is a late 18th century or very early 19th century rebuild that has been partially converted into cottages, situated on High Street in Wibsey. This building is two stories high and constructed from irregularly coursed gritstone, featuring long and short roughly dressed quoins. It has a stone slate roof with corniced chimneys. The front of the public house on the ground floor displays three large canted stone brick bays, which were originally windows; however, the center bay has been altered to form a porch. Early 20th century unrelated parapets have been added, and the glazing bars on the windows have been renewed. The return gable end facing Smithy Hill is splayed out and includes three-light square mullioned windows. The rear elevations also feature two and three-light square mullioned windows. Additionally, there are stone vaulted cellars that likely date back to a 17th century or earlier building.
