Description

The former Windmill Inn, located on the north side of High Street in Wibsey, dates in part to around 1840-50, with earlier origins tied to a former windmill. A windmill stood on the site, built in 1682 and demolished in 1838. The lower front block, set at a right angle to the road, is likely a rebuild from the latter part of the 18th century, constructed of sandstone "brick" with flush quoins. It features a mid-19th century hipped slate roof. The front facade has three windows and a central doorway. Two-light square mullion windows appear on the road frontage and the west wing. The extension, dated around 1840-50, is characterised by architrave-framed windows on both floors and a hipped slate roof. The original fore building was probably part of the miller’s house.
