Description

This listing describes a pair of villas, Nos. 2 to 6 Claremont, built around 1860. The buildings are two storeys high and constructed from ashlar sandstone, featuring grooved ashlar quoin pilasters. The roofs are covered in Welsh slate, with a moulded eaves cornice supported by modillion brackets, and there are corniced ashlar chimneys.

Each villa has a symmetrical facade with three windows. A sill band runs across the front, and the central first-floor window is distinguished by an architrave surround. The ground-floor windows are shallow, rectangular, tripartite windows with cornices resting on console brackets. Stone steps lead to doorways framed by engaged slender Tuscan columns, with rosette decoration on the necking and the entablature frieze.
