Description
This is a terrace of houses located at 1-11 Belle Vue, including 191, 193, 195, and 197 Manningham Lane, built around 1830-1840. The three-storey houses are constructed from good gritstone ashlar and are arranged in pairs with a stepped design. The ground floor features horizontal grooving, a plat band, and bed moulding on the projecting eaves cornices. Each upper floor has two windows with moulded eared architrave surrounds, while the second floor windows are flat. There is one window on the ground floor of each house, all fitted with glazing bar sashes. The doors are five-panel designs with rectangular fanlights, set in thin double Doric pilaster surrounds topped with entablatures; some doorways have shallow pediments. At the rear, there are gabled wings with tall stone chimneys capped with octagonal cornices. The gate piers have chamfered corners and lobed domical caps. Number 11 features a broader three-window front with a slight break to the left, a broad corniced canted bay window on the ground floor, and a set-back side porch with grooving. The entrance has an archivolt arch on imposts with a semi-circular fanlight above.
