22 Broughton Place, Edinburgh

22 Broughton Place is an impressive terrace of houses built in 1809, featuring two storeys with a basement and attic, and comprising 15 symmetrical bays. The exterior is constructed from sandstone ashlar, with a rusticated finish at the ground level and a rock-faced basement. It includes a base course, a band course between the floors, and a corniced cill band at the first floor. The first-floor windows have moulded architraves and cornices, while the eaves are finished with a cornice and a blocking course. The entrance features ashlar steps and platts that extend over the basement.

On the principal elevation, there are timber panelled doors with fanlights located in bays 3, 4, 7, 12, and 13, with windows in the remaining bays, creating a regular pattern above. The roof features piended and canted tripartite dormers for Nos 20, 24, and 26, a piended dormer for No 28, and rooflights. The windows are timber sash and case, primarily with 12-pane glazing, while No 28 has plate glass. The building is topped with ashlar ridge stacks that have terracotta cans, and decorative cast-iron railings enhance the overall appearance.

The interior was not seen during the last inspection in 1998.
