Description

This is an Italianate-style terrace of houses built around 1860. Numbers 15 to 29 (odd) form a symmetrical group, with a slight break in the design for the central pair, which features an additional attic storey. The end bays of the terrace also have gabled fronts with pediments. The houses are constructed of sandstone "bricks" with ashlar dressings. They have a bracketed eaves cornice and a sill band to the first floor. The windows are paired or single, framed by architraves. The doorways are similarly paired or single, each with a segmental or semi-circular fanlight above. Flanking the doorways are rectangular bay windows with entablatures that extend over the doorways. These entablatures are supported by slender, cast-iron columns with ornate ironwork to the spandrels of the arches, and topped with ornate iron cresting.
