Description

This is a pack-horse bridge located approximately 15 meters north of Beckfoot Farmhouse, built around 1723. It is constructed from hammer-dressed stone and features a single segmental arch with well-dressed voussoirs, which are set back from the overhanging parapet. The bridge has added wooden railings for safety. Historical records from January 7, 1723, show that masons Benjamin Craven and Joshua Scott were paid £10 for building the stone bridge over Howden Beck at Beckfoot, and they promised to maintain it in good repair for seven years. The bridge was illustrated in Country Life on August 29, 1957.
