Description
No 1 Barkerend Road is a restored town house located on a corner site with Stotthill, dating from the latter part of the 18th century, making it a rare survival in central Bradford. The building is three stories tall and constructed of coursed sandstone "bricks." It features stone slate roofing with brackets at the eaves, saddlestones, and short kneelers at the gable ends, along with flanking chimneys. The front facade is symmetrical with three windows, showcasing glazing bar sashes set in raised flat stone surrounds. The first floor has a tripartite arrangement with square mullions, flanking a central round-headed window in a Gibbs surround. The doorcase, made of ashlar, appears to have been renewed. At the rear, there is a set-back three-story wing, and the northeast gable end has renewed windows, with the central one also featuring a Gibbs surround.
