Description
Rose Garth is a late 18th century building that features a refined front added to a 17th century farmhouse. It is two stories tall and constructed of sandstone "brick" with ashlar dressings. The front is symmetrical with three bays, a plinth, a frieze, and a shallow coved cornice topped with a blocking course. The roof is made of stone slate and has chimneys with cornices. The flanking bays contain tripartite square mullion windows that have renewed glazing bar sashes. The central window on the first floor is round-headed, framed by a squared surround with an eared base, and features an entablature with an impost moulding and a keystone inscribed with "G N 1783." The main cornice and blocking course slightly project above this window. The central doorway has a semi-circular fanlight with similar detailing to the surrounding frame. To the left, there is a narrow gabled extension from the late 19th century. The rear elevation has a slightly chamfered mullion window set in a deep splayed reveal, and there is a central round-headed stairlight from the late 18th century with intersecting glazing bars.
