Description

Tan House Farmhouse and Tan House Farm Cottage comprise a late 18th or early 19th century farmhouse built alongside an earlier 17th century cottage. The farmhouse is constructed of coursed sandstone and gritstone with a stone slate roof and kneelers. The rear road elevation features three-light square mullion windows on the ground floor. The adjacent cottage has a single-storey outskirt with a two-light chamfered mullion window in a moulded surround. The south front of the cottage is two-storeys with flush quoins, displaying a three-light chamfered mullion window on the first floor and a six-light window on the ground floor, both with drip moulds. A doorway features a dated lintel from 1650. The south front of the farmhouse itself has three narrow two-light square mullion windows with flush frames; the mullions have been removed from the ground floor openings.
