Description
The premises occupied by Team Construction Limited is a former goods station and warehouse, likely associated with the iron foundries that were once in the area. Built around 1860-1870, this long building is constructed from ashlar millstone grit and features a gable end slate roof. It is one storey high on the yard side, accessible via a paved ramp, and rises to two storeys on the north-west side down to road level. The gable ends are coped and include oculi windows.
The single-storey front facing the yard has a full-length canopy below the eaves, supported by large girder brackets and adorned with fretted valances on the sides. There are three large loading bays, and remnants of a platform extend to the north-east. A lower office extension is located to the south-west, also featuring an oculus in its gable. The two-storey elevation has 14 shallow revealed windows with three by five fixed iron framed panes; there are five on the ground floor along with two large drive-in loading bays flanked by buttresses. The building showcases a well-detailed functional design.
