Description
This is a barn dating from the mid-18th century, located 12 metres to the north-west of Old Hall Farmhouse in Silsden. It is constructed of rubble brought to course, with dressed quoins and a stone slate roof. The barn features a segmental-arched cart-entry that is protected by a porch with a cat-slide roof, which projects forward on the left side. On the right side, there are rectangular ventilators and a mistal doorway with a quoined lintel. Attached to the right, there is a stable with a hayloft above, accessed by a flight of stone steps on the right-hand return wall. All doorways and window surrounds are made from monolithic stones that have curious serrated edges, which may have been re-used from a corn-drying kiln.
