Description

The pair of cottages at 7 and 9 Chapel Street date from around 1760, as indicated by the initials "JSG". They are constructed of hammer-dressed stone with rubble sides and rear, raised punch-dressed quoins, and a modern tile roof. The facade is three bays wide. The outer bays feature two-light, flat-faced mullioned windows with raised surrounds, and jambs with gudgeons for shutters. The central bay contains two doorways with monolithic jambs. The doorway to the right has a dated lintel and a small single-light window above it on the first floor. Gutter brackets are present, and there are gable stacks. The rear elevation displays flush quoins, two doorways with monolithic jambs, and a single window to either side. Two flat-faced mullioned windows with plain stone surrounds are located on the first floor. A kneeler is visible on the right gable.
