Description

Oakworth Hall, now incorporating numbers 69 and 71, is an 18th-century house, dated 1702. It is constructed of dressed stone with a stone slate roof. The house is two storeys high. A doorway features a moulded lintel with a spiral pattern and a carved stone above depicting a horseman, dogs, and two masks. There are small, double-chamfered mullion windows, some of which have been altered, and some are later insertions. The building includes kneelers and coping. Three stacks are present, each with moulded strings. The rear elevation has a chamfered doorway with a shaped, dated lintel and a later gabled porch. Two double-chamfered mullion windows are visible on the ground floor, with three above, of 2, 3, and 4 lights respectively. A right return features a large inscribed stone tablet dated July 1843, indicating that Providence Lane (which begins here) is a private road to Providence Mill.
