Description
No. 71 on Main Street is a building probably dating from around 1800. It is positioned at right angles to the road and projects forward of the neighboring houses on either side. The building has two storeys and an attic, constructed of coursed, dressed stone.
The façade features one window: a small sash window in the gable, a sash window with slab surrounds on the first storey, and a larger fixed window on the ground floor, which has a moulded cornice above simplified pilasters, suggesting it may have originally been a shop window. There is a left-hand recessed doorway with a slab surround. A modillion eaves cornice extends from Nos. 73 to 77 (odd) and is shaped into a pediment on the gable. The roof is covered with slate.
Nos. 71 to 87 (odd) on Main Street are part of a group of buildings.
