Description
Nos 1, 3, and 5 York Road are part of a block of 17th century dwellings in Burley in Wharfedale, likely originally a large farmhouse that has since been divided into cottages. The doorway facing Main Street features a lintel inscribed with "M.S. 1613 A.S." Above a blocked doorway on the first floor, there is another lintel shaped like a 4-centred Tudor arch, which is dated 1647 but is not in its original position. Some of the stone mullioned windows have been altered, with sliding sash frames added. The buildings are constructed of squared coursed stone and have a stone slab roof, with kneelers at the base of the roof slope. The structure is two storeys tall. Nos 48 to 58 Main Street (even) form a group with these properties.
