Description
Dial House is a building dating from around 1690, located on the north side of Main Street in Burley in Wharfedale. It is two storeys high, constructed of coursed stone with a stone slate roof. The front features three windows and a doorway on the ground floor, along with three windows on the first floor. The windows have stone jambs, sills, heads, and mullions, originally designed with four lights divided by three mullions. However, two of the original mullions have been removed, leaving only the central one, and wooden sashes have been inserted in place of the original leaded lights. Above the ground floor windows and doorway, there is a continuous hood mould string course. A sundial on the front of the house is dated 1685, although it was likely removed from another location and affixed here. The building also features kneelers at the base of the roof slope.
