Description

Burley-in-Wharfedale Congregational Church was built in 1840 as a proprietary chapel by J P Clapham Esq, located in what were originally the grounds of his nearby house, Binley Grange. The chapel features a lancet Gothic design, constructed from sandstone and gritstone, with angle buttresses and buttresses that separate twin lancet side windows. The front has a gable that is coped and finialed, and above the crenellated porch is a triple lancet window with a pointed doorway consisting of two orders. The chapel has a slate roof with eaves concealed by a parapet. Inside, there are gallowed and box pews, along with additional wood paneling on the pulpit.
